Can I get my house checked while I am on vacation?
You can stop into the Public Safety Building and fill out a House Check Form. We will check your house, time permitting, while you are away. Please check the Crime Prevention page for information about securing your home.
How do I apply for a Concealed Weapons Permit?
You can stop into the Public Safety Building and pick up an application. Once you turn the application in it takes approximately 6 weeks for the background checks to be returned to us. There is a fee of $35.00 for a first time permit and $20.00 for renewals. Renewals require a complete application and background check so PLEASE don't wait until the last minute to renew your permit.
How do I get a copy of an accident report?
Accident reports can be obtained at the Public Safety Building. It takes approximately a week to get the report into the Crash Reporting System and approved by a supervisor. There is a $10.00 fee for accident reports.
How do I get a burn permit?
Burn permits can be obtained at the Public Safety Building. Burn sites require an inspection by the Fire Department before a permit can be issued for the first time. Burn permits are required for any outside burning within the Town of Hampden.
How do I get a Protection or Harassment Order?
Protection & Harassment Orders may be obtained at the District Court building located at 73 Hammond Street, Bangor, Maine Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. (207-941-3040). Criminal conduct on the part of the person you are going to request an order against may be reported to the police department having jurisdiction where the offense occurred.
How do I file a complaint about a Police Officer?
Contact any on duty supervisor at the Hampden Police Department. Contact may be in person, by phone, or by mail.
Can I get my Child Safety Seat installed or checked?
Hampden Public Safety has two Child Seat Safety Technicians. Please call ahead to make sure one is working. We will gladly check you seat to make sure it is installed correctly. We will also check to make sure it is not on the recall list. If you need help installing your car seat we will be more than happy to help. We just ask that you call ahead and make sure the back seat is cleaned out se we can move around and install the seat.
How do I contact the Animal Control Officer?
The Animal Control Officer may be reached by calling the Hampden Police Department. Day to day animal complaints are handled by the on duty police officer. Once an animal is picked up it is brought back to the Public Safety Building and held for a few hours to see if anyone calls and reports it missing.
