The holidays are a joyous time for all our families to gather together for the festivities and the joy of sharing with one another. It's also a time to think of sharing with others.

By now, your smoke detectors should have new batteries.

Your Carbon Monoxide (CO) detectors should be checked to

to insure that they are functioning, and you have an planned

escape route and a specified meeting place in case of a fire

or other emergency.

Check all of your holiday decorations for worn or damaged

power cords, loose or sharp pieces, or any damages that

may injure any of your family or your pets. Also check any

extension cords you may use and don't cover them with rugs

or have them where someone could trip on them.

With 2010 just around the corner, we at the fire department hope that

this year was a safe and happy one. In the coming year we look forward

to serving the Town of Hampden and it's citizens in their time of need.
